Marcostie Winery & Vineyards
Healdsburg, California
Marcostie Winery & Vineyards is situated on a 13 acre site - along Healdsburg’s famous Dry Creek wine trails. Two large sycamores frame entry to the wooden Estate House—the center of a down tempo, genteel wine tasting experience. The modest scale and the simple gable form recall Sonoma’s native barn structures. Manipulations in the gable open the interior space to view, light and air. A pairing of wood and steel framing, stone and concrete floor surfaces mixes refined elegance with rustic trappings. Several outdoor areas and shaded porches allow space to flow freely between indoors and out for the enjoyment of a glass of wine and the surrounding landscape. The winery production Barrel Building brings together the agrarian activities of the site. The elegant barn structure is naturally cooled and ventilated, and day lit by large translucent wall panels, placing the inner workings of the winery on continuous display while embracing the vineyard views beyond.
